Radio Accessories were build like a tank in the olden days!

This image shows the size (9cm (L) x 18cm (W) x 5.5cm (H)) of the Motorola Radio Bracket.

I am currently busy working on the RF Link Radio for AllStar node 49355.  The Motorola radio that will be used for the link has no mobile bracket.  I need a bracket to attach the radio to the radio desk.  Looking at new brackets from cheap Chinese mobile radios, it is clear that they are made of thin (1 - 1.5 mm) and easy bendable sheet metal.  I considered bending a mobile bracket out of a 5 mm plate. Scratching in my junk box I came across an old Motorola bracket.  This fairly large bracket was made out of  3 mm plate and was made to last a lifetime.  This bracket would be ideal for the link Motorola radio except that I previously made a mod on the side of the radio.   A switch was now in the way.  Looking at the bracket I decided to cut a section of the bracket that would fit the radio, making two brackets out of the one.  The images show the two brackets.  It will not be possible to use today's brackets for this purpose, the reason mentioned supra.

It is clear that many older radio accessories were high quality and  build to last.   The RF Link Radio for the 49355 AllStar node has a "new" bracket and another Motorola Radio in the Shack now also boast a good quality mobile bracket.
