SpaceX is targeting Thursday, March 3 for a Falcon 9 launch of 47 Starlink satellites to low Earth orbit from Launch Complex 39A (LC-39A) at Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The instantaneous launch window is at 9:35 a.m. EST, or 14:35 UTC, and a backup opportunity is available on Friday, March 4 at 9:10 a.m. EST, or 14:10 UTC.
The first stage booster supporting this mission previously launched GPS III-3, Turksat-5A, Transporter 2, and seven Starlink missions. Following stage separation, SpaceX will land Falcon 9’s first stage on the Just Read the Instructions droneship, which will be stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
The live webcast/stream of this mission will be broadcast on the GRHub Network and will begin about 15 minutes prior to liftoff. Now some might say that this is not amateur radio related!! As far as I know amateur radio is also part and parcel of science and technology. In the interest to promote science and technology I decided to broadcast space missions on the GRHub Network.
You can access the live transmission as follow:Echolink - Connect to ZS1I-L
AllStar - Connect to node 49355
VHF - 145.550 Mhz Simplex in the Mossel Bay area. Remember the 88.5 khz CTCSS tone
Any other Echolink, AllStar repeater or link station that is connected to either ZS1I-L or node 49355
Use of your cellphone by installing Echolink on your phone
By means of a Network Radio example Enrico TM8 etc.
FINALLY:
Please feel free to join us tomorrow afternoon at 16h35 SAST. Please also tell your amateur radio friends about the broadcast. Get rid of that daily stress and enjoy the miracle of science and technology. I am sure that many of you watched space launches before but to me it is still a wonderful experience. IF you love space related content then this one is not to be missed.
