I really cannot believe that last night's net was already the 10th Net. Yes we are at it for 10 weeks already and I would like to thank all those that participated in the Net in the past. Your input makes the net what it is today. A really special Net and something different from the ordinary get-to-together's on the air.
Last night many suggestions and new ideas were placed on the table for future food for thought iro amateur radio local weekly news bulletins. If you missed the Net than you missed a wide variety of view points relating to this question. More on this later,.
As stated before, those that participated in the Net ensure the continuation of the Net. The "Net Sonder Naam/Net without Name" is not a one person en-devour or club activity but belongs to every radio amateur that participate. However it does not belong to listeners as they do not contribute to the Net in any way. I therefor ask listeners to report in by just telling us that you will be listening or to actively participate. Just a reminder the net is open to all radio amateurs and you use the language of your preference!!

WEEKLY TOPIC:
Every week we choose a topic question and ask it to each participant.
If you have an amateur radio related topic or survey question that you'd
like the net participants to discuss, we'd love to get your suggestions
and input. Please email your topic suggestions by clicking HERE. If you
prefer that your name/call not be used when we pose your topic to the net,
please state so in your email and we'd be glad to respect your privacy.
This weeks topic:
"Do we need to change the amateur radio local weekly news bulletin format ?"
"Is dit nodig dat die formaat van amateur radio weeklikse nuus bulletins verander"
This question led to some interesting comments and suggestions from all the participants. There was consensus that we need to look at the format and content of bulletins on a regular basis as this will result in new and fresh ideas to bring to the attention of listeners. There were plenty food for thought and it was decided to discuss this topic again in the future to get some feedback of "new" bulletin formats and content that might be implemented by several clubs. Comments afterwards on Telegram were positive. I trust that this discussion/question would encourage the young and dynamic radio amateurs to suggest and implement new fresh ideas to enhance their club bulletins. It is not up to only a few to compile and present a amateur radio bulletin. We are looking for "fresh" and not "stale" bulletins!!
This question was so popular that two rounds of discussions were held last night making it thus far the longest NSN Net to date.
Unfortunately I cannot provide full details about the comments and suggestions. I would like to encourage you to join the Net in future to find out more about the weekly topic question being discussed.
If you have an amateur radio related topic or survey question that you'd like the net participants to discuss, we'd love to get your suggestions and input. Please email your topic suggestions by clicking HERE. If you prefer that your name/call not be used when we pose your topic to the net, please state so in your email and we'd be glad to respect your privacy.Should we move the NSN Net to a new time slot and day due to the fact that the Internet is very erratic on a Thursday evening? Many stations experience connectivity problems on a Thursday evening. What about a Sunday afternoon at 16h00 SAST? Any suggestions?
It was decided to continue as before on a Thursday evening. However we will monitor the Internet for the next 3 NSN Nets. In the mean time we will also use the next 3 Sundays to evaluate the Internet connectivity and we invite all the NSN participants to join us for a general discussion on a Sunday afternoon just after the Bo Karoo Amateur Radio Bulletin. We will start with a topic discussion this coming Sunday afternoon.
TIME CONSTRAINTS:
Due to time constraints we were not able to look into the following topics:
- Weekly Tips/Hints and Kinks
- Question and Answers
- Swop Shop
There you have it. A short summary of events that took place last night during the NSN - Net. Once again a wide variety of amateur radio activities, something for everybody. Can you provide more activities? Please join us. Your presence will be most welcome. We need you expertise!!
