Two Amateur Radio friends meet up in St Francis Bay

It is not always amateur radio that is on the foreground all the time.  The social side of amateur radio is just as important.  Thys  ZS1TBP from Mossel Bay is a heavy vehicle haulier that travels regularly from Mossel Bay to Port Elizabeth, St Francis Bay, Gansbaai, St Helena Bay and Saldanha.  Tjaart ZS3DR from De Aar is the HOTA expert and regularly report on activities via the Bo Karoo Amateur Radio Klub Bulletin which is broadcasted every Sunday 15h00 on HF, Echolink, 2 Meters and AllStar.

Tjaart were down in Jeffreys Bay with his brother Fanie and he heard that Thys will be in St Francis Bay on the 11 March 2022.  Tjaart notified Thys that he would like to meet Thys in St Francis Bay for a cup of coffee.  The scene was set for a enjoyable get together in St Francis Bay.  I was informed that they had a ball of a time as can be seen from some of the images underneath.  It is always great to meet up with fellow radio amateurs and seeing that Covid 19 is now manageable, I am sure more and more gatherings will take place and hopefully we can return to normal as soon as possible.

I would like to thank Thys for the images of the St Francis Bay harbor and surroundings.  Some of us do not get the opportunity to visit many areas in this country due to various reasons.  With the expected price increase in petrol, it will make it even more difficult to visit some areas.
