I have indicated before in several posts that the current installation of the Diamond X50 antenna for the 145.550 Mhz RF Link is far from optimal. I recently started working on a base, base plate and brackets to erect a heavy duty aluminum flag pole. The pole is 12 meters in height and I will install the Diamond antenna on top of it once the concrete block for the base plate has set properly. I plan to pour the block tomorrow morning. Installation is expected to take place next Saturday morning, weather permitting. Here is a few images of the project thus far. Updates to follow as I progress. (Please note some of the re-bar is bend/skew but for R20 it must do the job.) Thus far the project cost me R20.00 for the metal and R98.00 for the concrete. The bolts, nuts and base plate were free.
